About B.J. McNeillie . . .
B.J. McNeillie is proprietor of The People Sanctuary in Mechanicsburg, PA, one of Central Pennsylvania?s newest yoga/meditation centers. The People Sanctuary is an 1850?s farm in a beautiful country setting ? very peaceful and relaxing. B.J. is also the founder of Yoga For Right Now, a series of Kundalini Yoga video/DVD programs that made their debut in 2003. B.J. began her own practice of Kundalini Yoga in 1992 with private and group instruction from Siri Neel Kaur Khalsa, a long-time student of Yogi Bhajan.
B.J. is a Certified Level I Instructor through the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) based in Espanola, New Mexico. She completed the intense Master?s Touch Teacher Training Course in the summer of 1998 in New Mexico, where she studied with Yogi Bhajan, the Master of Kundalini Yoga, as well as many other renowned teachers from around the world. In 1998, B.J. also received her spiritual name ? Guru Jagat Kaur ? from Yogi Bhajan. This name means ?teacher of the world? or ?the universal teacher.? Upon returning home to Central Pennsylvania, she set up several classes at local studios and began sharing the teachings of Kundalini Yoga.
In the summer of 2005, B.J. completed the Conscious Pregnancy course in New Mexico with the creator of the program, Tarn Taran Kaur Khalsa. Conscious Pregnancy is Kundalini Yoga?s official prenatal yoga teacher training course, and B.J. added prenatal classes to her schedule in 2005. B.J.?s teaching style is gentle and encouraging, focused on stress relief and connecting with your own inner peace and joy.
In addition to her KRI teaching certifications, B.J. holds a Master?s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation and a Certificate in Gerontology from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. B.J. has designed a special class for persons with limited mobility, where we ?never sit on the floor, because the students told me they may not be able to get back up again!? This class is currently offered at Bethany Village, a continuing care retirement community in Mechanicsburg, PA.
One of the reasons B.J. loves Kundalini Yoga is that it is a practical style of yoga designed to give noticeable results in a short period of time. She states, ?The average person can do this yoga. You don?t have to be able to twist yourself into a pretzel, and most people feel better after their very first class.? She adds, ?When there are more challenging exercises and postures, there are alternatives and adaptations that can be made. Each student can take a class at his or her own level.?
B.J. holds the vision of building The People Sanctuary into a wonderful community resource, a safe haven where her Central PA neighbors can get away from the stress of daily life without having to travel a long distance, and where they can learn valuable techniques for coping with stress. B.J. loves sharing the teachings that have brought so much peace and joy into her own life. |
