garden_party.jpgIn yoga we have the idea of "seva," or "selfless service." There's a lot of gardening to do here at The People Sanctuary, so B.J. is asking for your help. If you like to garden, please bring a plant, your gloves, and your favorite trowel, and let's have a fun day brightening up The People Sanctuary with flowers! We need everything from marigolds to garden benches (they don't have to be new!). Especially appreciated would be bleeding hearts, day lilies, iris, and white lilacs. Stay for a few minutes or a few hours. There will be plenty of cold drinks and some yummy light food. Fence painting opportunities too! If you have any questions, please call B.J. at 717-458-5336. This community-building activity began in February of 2006 at the request of B.J.’s yoga students. It has become a very safe and supportive group not only to learn and practice meditation, but also to nurture your spiritual journey.
Wear comfortable clothes. No meditation experience is required.
There is no set fee for this group, but a love offering will be gratefully accepted.


FULL CHAKRA LIVING: A new workshop series
9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
March 29, April 26, May 31, and June 28, 2008

Whether or not you’ve attended the “Tour of the Chakras” workshop, this new workshop series will offer you the opportunity to dive a little bit deeper into the chakras. We will take a very practical and experiential view of these major energy centers of the body, with an emphasis on using our knowledge of the chakras to enlighten and improve our life’s journey.

March 29: Chakras 1 and 2Safety and Creativity
April 26: Chakras 3 and 4Power and Relationships
May 31: Chakras 5 and 6Words and Ideas
June 28: Chakras 7 and 8Balance and our Highest Selves

Each workshop will stand on its own, so you may attend one, two, three, or all four, as your schedule allows. For each individual workshop, the fee is $35 per person with registration two days in advance; $40 per person at the door. For the entire series of four workshops, there is a special fee of $125 per person, paid by March 29.

Full Chakra Living: Chakras 3 & 4

This is the second in our four-workshop series called "Full Chakra Living." This workshop offers you the opportunity to dive deep into the third and fourth chakras, focusing on Power and Relationships. We will take a practical and experiential view of these energy centers, with an emphasis on using our knowledge of the chakras to enlighten and improve our life's journey.
Fee for this workshop only is $35 per person with registration by April 24, $40 at the door. If you did not attend the first workshop in March, you are still more than welcome to attend this one!



The Healthy, Calm, Joyful Workshop!
Date / Time: Sat. May 17, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

We read about yoga being good for body, mind, and spirit, but what does that mean exactly? What is prana? What is kundalini? This workshop gives us a chance to discover our own answers to these questions through our own experience. We will practice some basic yoga postures and exercises, and discuss how these movements and flow of breath can help our physical health and well-being. We will also have the opportunity to meditate and chant, and learn how these various techniques can help us to be more clearheaded and focused. And we will challenge ourselves with a few more difficult exercises (not necessarily physically difficult), to help us dive deep into our souls and see what we're made of. (Hint: We're made of really good stuff!) For the beginner, this workshop can be a great introduction to the world of yoga and meditation. For more experienced practitioners, this workshop can help you to deepen and enrich your practice.
Fee is $35 per person PAID IN ADVANCE; $40 per person at the door.

Beginner's Workshop

So you've been wanting to try yoga, but you feel you really don't know anything about it? Then this workshop is for you! B.J. will lead this special 3-hour class to teach you everything to need to know to be ready to join the All Levels Class. We'll cover the basics of breath, movement, sound, and meditation, with plenty of time to ask questions and discuss anything we need to discuss. If you're not sure you can do yoga, this class will let you know that you really can, and you'll feel wonderful!
Fee is $30 per person with registration by August 14; $35 per person at the door.

The Yoga For Right Now Video Series


Video #1: Kundalini Yoga for Releasing Stress - DVD or VHS
Video 1This program is suitable for beginning, intermediate, or advanced students. After a brief explanation of breathing and chanting, there are 3 yoga sets of approximately 30 minutes each. The first is a general set of warm-ups and stretches, focused on releasing stress from the body. The second set is "Exercise Set for Building the Nervous System," which better enables the body to process and release stress. The third set is "The Warrior's Tension Release," which is designed to strengthen the heart and release deep-seated stress.


Video #2: Kundalini Yoga for the Digestive System - VHS
Video 2This program is suitable for beginning, intermediate, or advanced students. After a brief explanation of breathing and chanting, there are 3 yoga sets of approximately 30 minutes each. The first is a general set of warm-ups and stretches, focused on strengthening the body's digestive system. The second set is "Healing the Stomach," which contains exercises that support the health of the stomach. The third set is "Strengthening the Stomach," which is designed to support effective digestion and core strength.
